What cookies are
Cookies are small files stored on your device. Similar technologies (such as localStorage) work the same way. We group them by purpose below. Under the EU ePrivacy rules and UK PECR, anything that isn’t strictly necessary is only used with your consent.
Strictly necessary
These are required for the site to work and don’t need consent. We store your cookie choice itself so we don’t ask on every visit.

Analytics — consent-gated, self-hosted
We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool that we run on our own server at stats.consultancyinaction.tech. No data is sent to Google, Meta, or any advertising network, and it is never sold or used to build a profile of you.
It only loads if you have chosen “Analytics only” or “Allow all”. If you decline, or if you have not made a choice, the script is never loaded and no measurement of any kind takes place. Declining is the default.
When it does run, it records: the page you viewed, the page or search engine you arrived from, any campaign tags in the link you clicked, your country, and your browser, operating system, device type and screen size. Your IP address is used to work out the country and is not stored. Umami sets no cookies, so allowing analytics does not add anything to your device.
We run no heatmaps and no session recording. Umami never shares anything with an advertising network. Advertising measurement is a separate choice, described below. Full detail is in our privacy notice. If we ever add another provider, we will name it here and there before it goes live.
Advertising — a separate choice, off by default
If we advertise, we need to know which advert brought you here. That is measured with a tag from the advertising platform itself — currently Google Ads, and nothing else. Unlike Umami, these tags do set cookies and do share data with the platform that issued them.
Because of that, it is a separate question on the banner. Choosing “Analytics only” or “Reject all” means no advertising tag is loaded, no advertising cookie is set, and your browser makes no request to any advertising host at all — not a blocked one, none. Only “Allow all” loads it.
At the time of writing we are not yet running any advertising, so the tag is not configured and nothing loads whatever you choose. We will name any further platform here before it goes live.
Change your choice
You can change or withdraw consent at any time. You can also clear cookies in your browser settings.
